My project 3 was on the Tiki Luau and how the social event could help students deal with people inside and outside of ASU. The part of the project that I did well in it was connecting the how the benefits to ASU fit in the real world. A single event is difficult to connect it to how it influences the outside world, but I worked my way through it and found a connection between the two. Another part that I did well was mixing the audio together when I had it all recorded. I separated everyone’s audio so there was no way the two audio interviews could have mixed together. I put it on one audio track and decided that was too confusing so I separated each track to form a well organized way incase my recording goes past the interviews when I had them in Garageband. One of the challenging aspects of the project was writing a script for me to say. I probably went over my script six times before it was easy to read it to my microphone. Fixing the grammar mistakes and making it flow was a difficult process because my sentence fluency is not the greatest part of my writing. Another part that was hard for me to do was finding interviews because they were really what impacted and supported the argument in my recording. I learned a lot because I fixed my own writing and noticed how many mistakes I had. Fixing my grammar was the hardest part of the piece and required a ton of concentration because I read it out loud and slowly a couple times to make sure the grammar was good enough and flowed when I spoke it out loud. The way I can alter my writing and recording process is by reading out loud my script when I’m typing it. It has to have a flowing sound and not appear to be choppy. The sentence fluency was definitely the hardest part of my writing and it is the most important part when someone tries to record. I feel like my argument was strong because I connected it to the outside world pretty well. The whole point of the essay was to prove how the event could be beneficial to Arizona State University and the outside world. I felt like my argument was strong enough to prove how the Tiki Luau benefitted students even when they were out of school working for tough bosses or people that they disliked. The way I can apply this work out of university is go to more social events so I can learn to deal with different people. The project made me realize the benefits with huge school sponsored events, and how it can really help you in the long run of your career.
